Conversations with God
God explains that he communicates with man in a number of ways:
Feelings: If you want to know what’s true for you about something, look to how you’re feeling about it
Thoughts
Experience: teaching us something by placing us in an experience
Words: However, words are commonly misunderstood. Words are simply noises that stand for thoughts, feelings, and experiences
What’s ironic is people tend to focus too much on words, and not enough on trusting their own experiences. Words can often confuse what you know.
How do we know the difference between our thoughts from God and from other sources? For example, how could i discern the thought that “the way to be accepted is to be thin” vs “the way to be accepted is to be genuinely myself and find people who love that”? The book says that God’s is always the highest thought, the clearest word, the grandest feeling.
The highest thought is that which contains joy
The clearest word is that which contains truth
The grandest feeling is what you call love
We have free will to do what we want. God does not care about the outcome, because the ultimate outcome is assured by God. Godliness is so large, you can’t miss.
Humans are motivated by two emotions: fear and love.
The purpose for all of life is to experience fullest glory. This is boundless. The moment you find yourself in your fullest glory, you will imagine a greater glory to be. The more you are, the more you can become, and the more you can become, the more you can yet be. You are creating yourself, seek who you want to be.
Life is a way for you to know experientially what you already know conceptually. You need to remember what you already know, and act on it. Your soul knows all in the universe, but seeks to experience. For example, you can know yourself to be kind, but until you do something of kindness, it’s just a concept.
God was everything, but she couldn’t know herself experientially without a reference point outside herself . How can you know what you are, if you can’t see what you’re not? So, she divided herself and created that which is “this”, that which is “that”, and that which is “neither.” This is relativity. With relativity, nothing became everything, which is what we call the big bang.
The physical world was created for us to know ourselves experientially. It was not enough to just know that we are God’s children (or part of God herself), so God created a plan where we would enter the physical world and relativity. We would forget “who we really are,” which allows us to choose who to be. Our soul purpose is to remember who we are.
God demonstrates her love by giving us free will to show our love.
The growth is knowing, experiencing, then being. The base is knowing, which begets experience. Then experiencing, embodying that what you know. Finally is being, the bliss of the memory of knowing and experiencing. Relationships of the higher realm are in triads
Ask yourself “which part of myself do I wish to experience in the face of this hardship?” Life presents a series of opportunities to decide who you are. There are no victims of the universe, only creators. Forget not who you are when you are encircled in what you are not.
Passion is a love of doing, without attachment to results. Living without expectations is freedom!
The point of life is to create who and what you are, then experience that
Relationships are meant to create and express grander versions of yourself. It’s only through relationships with other people, places, and events that you can exist with knowable quantities. You only know what you are relative to what you are not.
You can choose to be a person who has resulted simply from what has happened, or what you’ve chosen to be and do about what has happened.
You can inspire others to be who they truly are by being yourself. Then they see themselves in you.
